::  San Francisco Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue rescues German Shepherd dogs in the San Francisco Peninsula, South Bay, and Monterey Bay areas, including the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito. SFBAGSR also has working relationships with and rescues German Shepherd dogs from shelters in a number of Northern California Counties, including Marin, Lake, Nevada, Placer, Colusa, Yuba, Sutter, Tehama, Glenn, and Shasta, to name a few.

::  SFBAGSR is distinguished as a rescue by its complete reliance on foster homes to prepare rescue dogs for placement in adoptive homes. We have rigorous temperament screening procedures, with only the most experienced volunteers—certified in assessment techniques—screening German Shepherd dogs for placement into our rescue program. It is our most sincere wish that our careful, loving rescue methods result in placement of the most worthy dogs in the best homes, living on as beloved ambassadors of a noble breed. Shelters have advised us they have dogs, which they believe are pure-bred shepherds, available for adoption directly from the shelter. We have not seen or evaluated these dogs but list them here as a service. If you are interested, contact the shelter directly and make arrangements to see the dogs.
