Circumstances can arise that require an owner to find a new home for his/her German Shepherd. This page is offered as a service to those who must do this and prefer not to surrender their dog to a shelter. German Shepherd Rescue has not seen or evaluated the dogs listed below and therefore cannot make any representation or take responsibility for any dog's temperament or health. Prospective adopters interested in acquiring a dog directly from its owner may contact the owner at the phone number or e-mail listed.

Crystal
Crystal is three years old and has been our dog since she was three six weeks old she is presently with our older all balack shepard dog, junior who is the alpha male. We want her to have a loving home and someone who is giving her a second chance our only other alternative is to give her up to the animal shelter in Oakland . She is very beautiful and has an thick undercoat with black and grey marks on her feet and face neck. She loves walking up in the oakland hills and just being with her pal junior. She is very good with my sons 17 month old daughter and with my son who has developmental dissability. Crystal is not able to stay with us any more because she niped the post lady she didn't break any skin nor was animal control called she was doing her duty guarding the house. Frida
Frida is a female, spayed; 9months old, German Shepard mix, about 40lbs. She is very playful and outgoing. She gets along with other dogs. She is in need of obedience training but wants to please and catches on quickly. She was given to my father but cannot longer keep her. My father doesn't have the energy Friday needs to thrive and be the best she can be. She would love to be part of a family that would take her places and be active; she rides very well in cars. Precious
Precious was born to two guard dogs in an Oakland warehouse. She is an active puppy, 1 year old, with shots. Her parents live in Fremont, and Precious has gotten too large for their family. She is a loving dog who craves attention that the family cannot give. Precious would be a wonderful addition to a family of adults with experience working with dogs, but she has not been trained or socialized yet, and needs obedience work before she can be brought into a family with young children.

Russell
Oh Russell! Look at that face! Need I say more? His personality is what shows through in his photos, sweet, gentle and charming. This boy is so charming. He looks up at you with soft beautiful, soulful eyes you will just melt. Then, when you spend time with him you fall in love. He justs wants to be loved. He is very gentle and he will nuzzle his nose under your arm. He is so sweet. He is very mellow, not that active at all. He just wants to be loved and with somebody. Russell is a charming, charming guy! How could this wonderful dog end up in a shelter? We have no clue, but he is looking for a new home that will hopefully never loose him and love him forever. Tammi
Tammi was left with me to be taken care of for the weekend. Her owner is a ninety year old man that has altzheimers'. His daughter does not want Tammi, and doesn't like dogs. I was stuck with her, and need to find her a home. Tammi is very sweet, loving and has had some training. She gets along with other dogs, and is housebroken. She would appreciate a home where whomever adopted her could spend time with her. She is kennel trained, and is a great dog!

Belle
Belle is a 4 year old female, spayed German Shepherd mix who needs a dog-loving home. We believe she has a small amount of Border Collie in her, which keeps her at a smaller size than purebred German Shepherds. She is about 55 pounds in size, a medium sized dog. We have had her since she was a young puppy, but unfortunately are no longer able to give her the time and attention she deserves. She enjoys being indoors, socializing with people and non-aggressive dogs. She enjoys car rides, but not in pick-up trucks. She LOVES daily exercise of playing fetch with a tennis ball, about 20 minutes a day. She is excellent at this game! However, she can be possessive of the tennis ball. In mid-November 2005, she had a check-up and is in good health, current on her shots. We can provide a copy of her check-up report. She is fully house and crate-trained, micro-chipped as well. She knows basic commands, i.e. sit, down, wait, crate, go potty, off, out. Every month, she uses Advantage Flea control and heartworm medication. We will send any extra supplies of these medications with her new owner. She comes with crate and leash. Belle’s veterinarian can give reference on her demeanor. No children under 10 years old please. No cats please, since she loves to chase them.

Isis
Isis is a beautiful purebred black GSD from the Czech republic, born in August 2004. She is highly intelligent, house- and crate-trained, and knows several commands. She has very high drive and energy and is very dominant; she needs a lot of activity and a 'task' to keep her occupied, as well as an owner with a firm hand. she is fine with other dogs but likes to chase cats. older children would be great (10 and older). we have to give her up due to changes in our living situation and lack of time to give her the attention she deserves.

Vaughn
Are you passionate about dog behavior and training based on reward based training methods? Like to go on long walks? Vaughn is a devoted companion and looking for someone who can spend lots of time with him and teach him new tricks. He has successfully completed basic obedience and canine freestyle classes. He has impeccable leash manners. Adult only home. Would do well with another large-breed adult dog (male or female). No cats please. Requires daily medication for allergy and dermatology related health issue.

Sergio

He is soft and easy to handle, wonderful on leash and loves to play with other female dogs, and large or small plays with them with a soft touch not too heavy handed or overwhelming. He is attentive and calm and a must see in terms of a nice easy going german shepherd! Sergio is #--- at the Oakland Animal Shelter . All animals are listed as spayed/neutered, even if they currently are not, since they will be fixed before they are adopted. To adopt an animal, please bring one of the following: 1) proof of home ownership (e.g. property tax receipt, title, or mortgage account); or 2) a rental contract that makes clear pets are allowed. We also require a driver’s license.

Cricket
Cricket is a pure-bred German Sheperd, 3 year old, neutered male. He's very loving but a bit simple minded. He has been through professional training but needs constant reinforcement due to the short attention span. His owner did not have time to spend with him or a big enough yard so I've fostered him the past few months. I have an indoor dog and having both indoors is more than the house can take! He currently weighs 70 lbs and is in great health. He lives with my female Am Staff now, but would do best if he were the only dog in the family. He loves kids. Does not like cats. He would need to be a close companion to his people, (ie: mainly indoors) to bring out the best he has to offer.

Siren
Siren is a 4-year-old purebred Spayed Female German Shepherd Dog. Siren’s owner was forced to make the difficult decision of finding her a home because she was fighting with her other female dog in the household. Siren is a wonderful dog that has been well cared for her entire life; she just would prefer to be the only female dog in the house. She is fine with other dogs when she goes on walks and just basically ignores them. She may possibly do well with an easy going boy dog. Siren is learning how to sleep in a crate at night, and has actually started to go in there on her own. Although she does get a little fussy when she thinks it is time to come out. She is a sensitive dog and is incredibly smart. She know how to sit and down, she is housebroken with a doggy door, and walks fairly well on leash. What a sweetheart this dog is! Siren would love to go into a home that would take her for walks every day and would play fetch with her in the backyard. She has never lived with children, so it is unknown how she would do living with them. But she seems to do well with them when she meets them. Siren is NOT good with cats. Her adoption fee is $100 and she comes with a free dog training class at Happy Campers Boarding Kennel if she attends within three months of her adoption date. Please take her home!
